If security decisions are being made without independent, technical oversight, you would likely benefit from STA support. If you’re relying solely on the advice of those selling or installing your systems, that’s usually a sign an independent voice is missing. This can often lead to unnecessary costs and reduced value for money.
Advice is rarely truly agnostic. With no commercial agreements with suppliers or influence from external partners, an independent Security Technical Advisor has no vested interest in which solution, supplier, or contractor is chosen. Our sole focus is achieving the right outcome for you. That independence is what allows us to challenge assumptions, scrutinise costs, and hold delivery partners to account on your behalf.
The short answer is no. Martyn’s Law, as it is also known, received Royal Assent in April 2025, and applies across England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. It isn’t in force yet, but the Government has a number of tools available to self-assess, prepare and be ready for its commencement. The Government has also advised against ‘experts’ who claim they can ‘make you compliant’ to an Act not yet commenced, so be aware of the opportunists!
